One piece of kit that is always top of my list

Mick Fowler – An award-winning British mountaineer and author
My Ramche jacket is a life saving piece of kit. I love it. It’s just so light, warm and recovers so quickly if it gets wet. Brilliant.

Sam Hamer – Ambitious Rock Climber
The Berghaus Ramche Down Jacket is my favorite bit of kit and I take with my everywhere, especially in the winter months. Its incredibly warm and so light weight so doesn’t add any extra weight to your rucksack. Its also packs down very small so doesn’t take up much room. Its very robust and hard wearing for a down jacket!

Angelika Rainer – World Champion Ice Climber
My Ramche Down Jacket. When I try hard Mixed Climbing routes, I need to stay really warm in between my climbs. I need some rest between my tries and in that time it is very important not to get cold as this would influence badly my next try on the route. That’s why a good Down Jacket is essential for my success on a hard route. Without this I couldn’t go out in winter and try to climb hard routes. I really need to stay warm to be able to perform well.

A map. I always need to know where I am. With a map I feel happy and in control. Sometimes in the Lake District I do not take a physical map with me, I have looked at the maps and been in the fells so much I have a three-dimensional mental map in my head.

I’m someone who likes to get in the zone on comp day an kind of escape from everyone else, so I’d say my headphones are pretty important in me being able to do that. Hearing of others success or failure in isolation also puts me on edge a bit so being able to drown it out with music is very helpful!
