The Wildest Dream UK TV premiere

‘The Wildest Dream’ starring Berghaus athlete Leo Houlding will premiere on UK television this week. The documentary film tells the intersecting stories of George Mallory, the first man to attempt a summit of Mount Everest, and Conrad Anker, the mountaineer who find’s Mallory’s frozen remains 75 years later.

The film was released in IMAX theatres and cinemas across the UK in September 2010 with Leo Houlding, who stars as Andrew ‘Sandy’ Irvine, arriving in appropriate style by abseiling onto the red carpet.

The Wildest Dream will be shown on BBC Two at 9pm on Wednesday 17th August 2011, and again, also on BBC Two, at 5.30pm on Sunday 21st August.

The film’s premiere comes amid controversy surrounding a proposed expedition to uncover Andrew ‘Sandy’ Irvine’s body on Everest. Some people argue that the legend of George Mallory & Andrew Irvine becoming the first men to reach the summit should be left as a mystery, whilst others are arguing that steps should be taken to try and uncover the truth.
