Kicking off Wainwrights record attempt

Berghaus Athlete, Ultra Runner Steve Birkinshaw is set and ready for his Wainwrights record attempt.

He will will be heading out onto the fells on Saturday 14th of June, on a mission to summit the 214 Hills and mountains decribed in Alfred Wainwright’s Lakeland fells. The current record, 7 days and 1 hour set by Joss Naylor in 1987 has stood untouched for 27 years. Steve now plans to take 11 hours off that time.

Check out Steve’s interview below as he talk us through his attempt: (Film footage thanks to Giles Brown)

Here’s a fantastic Infographic we’ve put together with some impressive stats:

Steve will be raising money for two multiple sclerosis (MS) charities during his run. His sister has MS and he has created donation pages for both the national MS Society and a local charity, the Samson Centre.

During the attempt, he will carry a live tracker so you can follow his progress or perhaps find him on the hill and cheer him along.
Regular updates will also be posted here on the Berghaus website
