Flags found. Rewards earned. Memories made!

Launched as our antidote to the chaos of Cyber Weekend, The Get Out Game challenged all adventurers to hit the outdoors rather than the online sales.  And you guys were certainly up for it, with over 1,000 people signing up to take part in the experience.

After signing up adventurers had to decipher a cryptic clue on Black Friday with the aim of heading out on Cyber Saturday to find one of four hidden flags in secret locations across the UK.

Many of you heard our call, and forgot about the hustle and bustle of the sales, as you turned out in your hundreds!

Runners, crack team couples, dog-walking ramblers, weekend explorers, and fans of the outdoors took part in The Get Out Game across Loch Lomond, the Peak District, Brecon Beacons and South Downs.

Our adventurers shared their own epic journeys with the hashtag #thegetoutgame as they headed to find us in the hills.

“It was so good to avoid supermarket meltdowns and shopping centre squabbles,” said a winner in the South Downs.

Top winners of the event included a team of Glaswegian Scout leaders.  They chose to camp out, all night, in hammocks around Loch Lomond. The conditions that night were sub-zero!  Rewards earned – well done guys!

“There was a real sense of excitement as we approached the flags at the Brecon Beacons,” said one of the many prize winners.

But it wasn’t all competition…

“The best gift was the amazing view,” said new parents in the Peak District, whose 6 week old baby Luca also came on the journey!

Although there was some morning ice in Scotland, dry conditions were reported across all four of our secret locations meaning people could enjoy the views that little bit more.

“It was very foggy initially, but once that broke it was beyond stunningly beautiful,” said a Peak District participant, a feeling which echoed across The Get Out Game. Hypnotising views lasted till dusk, as did the prizes.

It was great to hear your feedback at each of the four locations. The Get Out Game seemed to be seen as an experience offering a reason to go somewhere new and do something rewarding – just what we aimed it to be! Most people did it for the fun, and the prize was an added bonus.

Thanks to all who journeyed into the outdoors and supported our efforts to shake things up a little this Black Friday. Who’s ready for next year?
