The Climbing Works International Festival returns for its 6th year this weekend. They’ve got an amazing weekend planned with over 300 competitors already registered for the qualifiers.
Here The Climbing Works discuss what they’ve got lined up for this year:
It’s amazing how time flies and it feels not long since we handed the CWIF 2011 trophies to Jarnej & Katy in front of a packed crowd.
Check out the 2011 highlights here.
We’ll undoubtedly see some amazing bouldering before the 2012 champions get crowned on Sunday evening.
This year we’ve got a very busy weekend lined up with the climbing taking centre stage, but we’ve also got a few other things to make The CWIF much more than just a competition.
We’ll have The Clinic on the Saturday providing physio advice and treatment to those climbers pushing it a little too far during Qualifiers. On the Sunday, in-between the Semi’s & Finals, we’ll be having our FREE BBQ with locally sourced burgers from Roneys butchers and Veggie burgers from Lembas.
Over the entire weekend we will be raising funds for the Edale Mountain Rescue Team and Macmillian Cancer Support. All the proceeds from team registration will go into the charity box and we’ll also be holding a number of raffles to raise as much money as possible for these great charities. There will be a very special weekend raffle with a grand prize of £1000 worth of gear from Berghaus & Scarpa for one lucky winner. Please make sure to take your wallet and support these charities as much as you can – you may even end up winning some amazing prizes!
On the Saturday we will have 2 qualifying sessions, 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon with a prize for the best fancy dressed team and numerous spot prizes for those taking part. The Sunday will see the Semi’s and Finals taking place with a big crowd expected for the Final. Don’t leave it late to come down, last year we had people watching through the windows because they couldn’t get a decent spot inside! We’ll be having a number of other raffles, prize giveaways, events and random going-ons making The CWIF an event not to be missed.
