How to make a waterproof dog coat

When it comes to adventure even man’s best friend requires a little protection from the elements. Berghaus fan Jane Wells crafted a coat for her outdoor loving pooch Rolo and very kindly shared her 13 step guide – happy sewing!

STEP 1 – Find your beloved Berghaus coat that’s ready for recycling:

STEP 2 – Make your own pattern by drawing around an dog old coat (or a new one you’ve bought!)

STEP 3 – Mark out the additional parts, you’ll need an outer body, made from the back of your original coat, a chest panel, made from the inside label of your origional Berghaus coat, a body strap, made from the collar of your original coat and a collar, that’s made from the sleeve of your original Berghaus jacket. Top tip: use the jacket’s origional seams were possible!

STEP 4 – Place the pattern to mark out.

STEP 6 – Make sure the Berghaus label used where you can (obviously!)
