Chris Bonington – 23 August

I’ve just got back from a great trip to Wales visiting friends and relatives with Wendy, but snatched a fantastic day on the South Pembroke Sea Cliffs.

I didn’t know climbers living in Pembroke but a mate advised me to email Trev Massiah (pictured above left) a very good climber and guide.  He agreed to climb with me and asked if I minded him bringing along a friend – Laune, who turned out to be a very good climber and a top qualified ski instructor between working as an accountant.  They gave me a fantastic day and dropped their climbing standard by about six levels!!!!

Laune starting up Ganimede HS, which she was kind enough to let me lead.

Me on Ganimede – steep beautiful rock with superb holds

I led Blue Sky 4b 4b in one run out at Trev’s urging – said it made it more exciting – he was right – but what a fantastic route.

View of the cliffs from Blue Sky – Trev abseiled down and jumared up alongside to get the pictured and give me a load of useful advice.  It made a great day and most important of all – two new climbing friends.
