We have had a fantastic time last week at Kendal Mountain Festival 2017. A huge thank you to everyone that dropped by (and sorry to anyone that couldn’t make it).
There was a lot going on, from film premieres to expedition giveaways and from expert workshops, to book signings, to trail runs. #BerghausHub!
Here is a run through some of our highlights of the weekend.
We had association with two film premieres over the weekend – both hugely inspirational and very well received by the crowd!
Bonington | Mountaineer – My Life Story
The European premiere of the feature-length Sir Chris Bonington bio pic film followed by a Q and A with the man himself and director Keith Partridge.
The Berghaus Dragons Back Race 2017
The Berghaus Hub
The Memory Map – win an expedition!
We set up a huge world map spanning one wall of our hub – and asked you guys to share your favourite outdoor memory for the chance to win a new one.
Memories were pin pointed to the maps on small flags, polaroids were taken so each memory had a face behind it and then you were asked to choose from one of four future expeditions. Everest basecamp, Dessert Trekking in Wadi Rum, the Atlas mountains and trekking the Great Wall of China. One memory was selected at random and that person won their next dream expedition!
It was fantastic to see the map wall grow with stories and memories shared…
We ran free, drop-in workshops throughout the day where you could come by and ask the experts any questions you wish. Whether it was about getting started or developing on a skill you have been trying to master.
Rope, Knots and Rigging Wizardry – Waldo Etherington.
Photography and filming in freezing conditions – Adrian Samara of Coldhouse Collective
Product Innovation – MTNHAUS
Night Nav – The Dragons
Following the Berghaus Dragon’s Back Race 2017 premiere we go the Dragon’s back out on the trail to share some night navigation tips and tricks in a night time 10k trail run.
A big thank you to our guides Steve Birkinshaw and 2017 Berghaus Dragon’s Back Race stars Sabrina Verjee and Joe Faulkner and also Petzel for providing us with spare headtorches.

Huw Jack Brassington
A fantastic talk from Berghaus Dragon’s Back Race star Huw Jack Brassington. Inspiring people to take every opportunity life brings.
What a weekend! Again, thank you to all that made this possible and everyone that came by to say ‘hello’ at the stand – it was definitly a Kendal Mountain Festival to remember!
Until Next year…
